Prospect Watch: El Paso used seven total arms on Sunday, with Ty Adcock being the second of them. The right-hander worked 1.2 scoreless innings and allowed one hit and two walks and struck out one. The 29-year-old’s fastball sat at 95.1 mph, about two ticks down from his 2026 season average, and saw just 14 inches of induced vertical break. In total, his arsenal generated just a nine percent whiff rate. Adcock, signed as a big league free agent over the winter, spent the first two months of the season on the IL and has struggled to a 7.97 ERA in 20 games since then. … Logan Gillaspie needed just 13 pitches to record four outs. The right-hander leaned on his sweeper, throwing it 46% of the time. The offering yielded solid results, collecting his lone two whiffs in his outing. Since returning from the IL on July 7, Gillaspie has allowed one run over 3.2 innings. … Blake Hunt turned in a 2-for-4 day at the dish, with both knocks being singles. Along with solid box score stats, Hunt has posted decent batted ball data during his time in El Paso. He boasts an 8.9% barrel rate, 40% hard-hit rate, and 103 mph 90th percentile exit velocity. He owns a .933 OPS in July. … Carlos Rodríguez logged a 2-for-4 day at the dish, which featured the El Paso outfielder swatting his third homer of the year. The blast left his bat at 99.2 mph. The 25-year-old doesn’t hit the ball hard all that frequently, posting only a 32.2% hard-hit rate, which ranks in the 11th percentile of all Triple-A batters. However, he does have some commendable bat-to-ball skills, including a 90.4% in-zone contact rate and just a 15.1% whiff rate this season.

Prospect Watch: Ethan Salas shined in San Antonio’s Sunday loss, going 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. The 20-year-old’s first knock of the night, a single to right, logged an exit velocity of 104 mph. In the sixth, Salas laced a 111 mph double to center. Salas has made loud contact all season, producing a 106 mph 90th-percentile exit velocity, a max exit velocity of 112 mph, and a 40% hard-hit rate. Along with strong batted-ball data, Salas is making contact at an elite 86.7% clip and owns a career-best 14.7% strikeout rate. Salas also gunned down a would-be base stealer in the top of the sixth. … Jake Cunningham went 1-for-3 with a single and an RBI against Hooks pitching. While the 28.9% strikeout rate in the Texas League remains a problem, the 23-year-old has held his own, slashing .304/.345/.458 since arriving in San Antonio. … Francis Peña worked two scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit and punching out one while generating a 35.2% whiff rate on the evening. The 25-year-old has allowed just one run over his past 15.2 innings with a K rate north of 30%. … Garrett Hawkins followed with an impressive pair of innings as well. The big right-hander tallied two strikeouts and generated 4 whiffs on 16 swings. While he had a blow up outing back on July 8, four of Hawkins five outings at Double-A have been scoreless.

Prospect Watch: Of the five hits the TinCaps managed on Sunday, two of them belonged to outfielder Kavares Tears. The 23-year-old corner outfielder went 2-for-4 and belted his 13th home run of the season. Dating back to May 1, Tears is running a .980 OPS and slugging .638 with 10 homers. Still, for all the loud contact he’s generated in that time, he’s failed to cut down the swing and miss. In that same span, he has posted a 38.3% whiff rate and 32.2% strikeout rate. For the year, he has delivered slightly above-average offensive production for the TinCaps. … Alex McCoy went 1-for-4 with three strikeouts in the loss. After a red-hot first two months of the year, McCoy has struggled mightily this summer, posting a .627 OPS with just seven extra-base hits in his past 34 games. While he owns a respectable 81.4 percent in-zone contact rate during this cold streak, he has also chased at an unsustainable 33.7% clip. … Ryan Wideman’s struggles at High-A persisted against Lansing, as the center fielder went 0-for-3 with a walk and a pair of strikeouts. Since his promotion, the 22-year-old is hitting just .244 with a .283 wOBA and has only two extra-base hits. Against High-A arms he’s whiffing at a 31.7% clip with just a 74.7% in-zone contact rate. … While he got little run support, Abraham Parra turned in a solid afternoon on the bump, working five innings with two unearned runs crossing the plate on two hits and a walk. He punched out three as he generated a 26.9% whiff rate (seven swings and misses on 26 swings). He owns a 5.08 ERA, 5.88 xFIP, and 21.5% strikeout rate in 67.1 innings this season.
